Rockyview General Hospital (RGH) distinguishes itself by providing a unified intensive care unit with 12 beds and a coronary care unit with 5 beds. A lot of the patients they take care of are very sick and need a lot of specialized nursing and medical care. The Critical Care Registered Nurse (RN) serves as a leader and a critical component of the interprofessional team. The critical care registered nurse (RN) assumes the role of the principal caregiver for the patient and their family within the critical care environment. They possess advanced critical care certifications, such as membership in the Code Blue and Outreach (Rapid Response, MET) Teams. Critical care nurses employ a team-oriented approach in conjunction with physicians, respiratory therapists, physical and occupational therapists, pharmacists, and social workers to attain optimal patient outcomes.

Each adult intensive care unit (ICU) in Calgary is an active participant in the provincial critical care orientation program (OPACCA), which provides a specialized learning experience. Description:

You will administer a diverse range of nursing interventions to individuals, families, communities, and populations in your capacity as a Registered Nurse (RN), all the while ensuring their health and safety. You will deliver high-quality, secure patient- and family-centered care under AHS’s shared vision and values. Holders of provisional permits are entitled to hourly wages between $35.87 and $43.82. The rate of pay shall be modified to the rate of pay applicable to a registered nurse by AHS/UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii), as applicable, upon entry into the register of registered nurses.
