Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Patients of the clinic are provided with dental evaluation, treatment, and consultation services.
  • Provides answers to dental inquiries and responds to emergencies.
  • Causes to be obtained and documented include the chief complaint, dental, family, and social history, evaluation of systems, examination, medications, and allergies, as well as an assessment and plan tailored to each patient.
  • Provides dental orders for ancillary testing, referrals, prescription renewals, and medication administration.
  • Examines the results of ancillary tests and coordinates patient notification.
  • As required, provides patient education.
  • Answers patients’ inquiries regarding their care, either in person or via clinical staff, to impart pertinent information.
  • Assembles the necessary documentation under insurance and reimbursement policies.
  • Timely completion of all paperwork and documentation.
  • Assists the Chief Dental Officer in establishing the clinic’s medical direction and providing leadership.
  • Maintains treatment protocols that have been validated for staff use.
  • Facilitates the training and orientation of dental professionals.
  • An adequate sample of dental records is evaluated, with an emphasis on the following factors: efficiency, quality of care, and appropriateness. When an evaluation of said dental records reveals that corrective action is required, the dentist, in collaboration with the appropriate administrative, supervisory, or clinical personnel, shall take the necessary corrective action.
  • Engages in activities related to community outreach and public relations.
  • OSHA compliance, emergency preparedness, infection control, and regulatory compliance support are provided.
  • As requested, she attends all staff, clinical, board, and other special meetings.
  • Executes additional relevant responsibilities as directed by superiors.
  • Constantly upholds patient confidentiality.

Qualifications:

Memberships, Certifications, Education, and Registrations

  • Completion of an accredited dental program.
  • A dental license issued by the state of Kansas.
  • Prescription medication authorization in the state of Kansas.
  • Certification in CPR (required within thirty days of employment).
  • Maintains valid certifications and licenses, in addition to meeting or surpassing CME requirements.

Work Schedule:

Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, with sporadic evening hours; exact hours are subject to change. Rotating on-call status is mandatory.

Working Conditions:

Dentist’s office setting. Capacity to stand or recline for extended durations. There may be a need for bending, stooping, and hauling (up to 50 pounds). Interactions with patients, physicians, and other office staff. Possible encounters with irate, distressed, or unwell individuals. Possible exposure to bodily fluids and blood, as well as other potentially hazardous substances. For computer interface work, visual acuity and manual dexterity are required. The acuity of hearing is required to manage phone interactions.
