Job Summary:

Conducts the grounds maintenance duties necessary to preserve the Getty’s unimproved areas, public and rear yard spaces, and exquisite gardens.

Major Job Responsibilities:

  • Performs grounds maintenance duties, including but not limited to landscaping, equipment operation, material transport, agricultural chemical application, and general labor, under direct supervision.
  • Responsible for ensuring the security and aesthetic appeal of the Getty’s grounds and gardens, including undeveloped land, roads, vegetation, lawns, trees, and hillsides.
  • Waters, prunes, and trim hedges, shrubbery, trees, and plants; when necessary, apply pesticides to plantings.
  • Supervises soil conditions, implements new plantings, and eliminates existing ones.
  • Irrigation system maintenance and potential minor plumbing repairs
  • Operates equipment and instruments for ground maintenance while operating tractors and trucks.
  • Able to address inquiries concerning the premises and gardens.

  • High school or GED preferred
  • Prior relevant professional experience
  • Capable of carrying and lifting 50 pounds
